Description -

People who seek an occupation in the field of disability work may practice in a variety of settings. This can include residential group homes, training recourse centers, day respite centers and open employment services, other community settings and client’s homes. These workers apply their knowledge and skills gained through qualifications and/or previous experience to provide care and support to people with disabilities, so to enhance their ability to achieve greater levels of independence, self reliance and community participation. These workers report to service managers and may liaise with health professionals and other service agencies. Workers in this field may work without direct supervision and may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a limited number of lower classified workers.

• Clinical placement at the completion of all units.
  • Assessment criteria include essays, workbooks, practical demonstrations, simulation, role play, multiple choice, clinical placement and off-campus homework.
