Medical Terminology - Basic & Advanced (2 Units of competency taken from Business Administration Training package which is NATIONALLY ACCREDITED).

Description -
This course is Off Campus and delivered by self paced distance learning/Or on campus

Medical terminology covers understanding and responding to words of the medical profession. Medical terminology may include knowledge of the fundamental word structure used in medical terms. We also include basic body systems and interrelated functions of the body along with locations and diseases. You should also gain a basic understanding of medical conditions, injuries, commonly used equipment and instruments, departments/sections of a hospital, common medications, referrals, medico-legal terminology at the basic level and common abbreviations.

These 2 competency units taken from The Business Administration Training Package which is an accredited course Australia wide.

It is a pre-requisite to the Certificate IV in Health (Nursing) and Certificate III in Pathology Specimen Collection.

Qualification -

A statement of attainment will be given to participants that have successfully completed the units.

BSAMED201A
Use basic medical terminology in order to communicate with patients, fellow workers and health professionals.

BSAMED301A
Use advanced medical terminology in order to communicate with patients, fellow workers and health professionals.

Examples of Assessments -
The assessment criteria will include a workbook, multiple choice test and 3 x 1 hour sessions either by teleconference or face-to-face with a qualified nurse trainer.

Information Session -

The Information session is held one week prior to course commencement. It is also the enrolment day. The session covers the following:

• Refund and LL and N assistance.
• Student support and assessment
Access and equity and RPL
Recognition of accredited qualification
Complaints and appeals

About the Trainers -
Carol Kemp and Sharon Laity are the two nurses/trainers who own and operate FACTS.  
Sharon Laity RN. BN. Grad Dip Gerontology - Has been a registered nurse for over fourteen years.
• Carol Kemp RN. BN. MNg Grad Cert Gerontology/Grad Dip Nursing - Has been a registered nurse for over ten years.
